Amazon and the university of texas at austin (ut austin) announced the launch of the ut austin-amazon science center, continuing to support amazon technology.
The center is designed to promote research that fosters new discoveries and solutions to serious interests, in addition to creating solutions whose benefit of viewing will rise to all walks of life. This can be accomplished by fostering partnerships among leading scientists, including decision makers and students, as well as building a diverse and sustainable talent pool. In a collaborative mode, which will take place at ut austin's cockrell school of engineering, amazon will provide funding for research projects, graduate student fellowships, and community development events focused on diversifying and shaping interdisciplinary innovation. The first event, open to people of scientific workers and youth, will be held april 12 at the ut austin campus.
"Amazon is thrilled to establish a university center at ut austin," said b.A. Winston, vice president of technology prime video. "For decades, our top scientists have helped ut austin graduate students in these areas, such as developing objective machine learning models to predict perceived story quality, which facilitates intelligent compression, and multimodal ii models, which help ensure still and multimedia video quality within the framework."

"I look forward with relish to the discoveries our researchers and youngsters will make through which partnership and this, how said discoveries will change the world."
Amazon has an extensive relationship with ut austin through the amazon scholars program. James bornholt, an associate professor of computer science whose research focuses on programming languages and formal methods, has been active as an amazon web services scholar since 2022. Deepayan chakrabarti, a customer trust fellow, is also becoming an assistant professor of information, risk and operations management, specializing in research on many problems, including large graph mining and constrained data issues. Shuchi chawla, professor of computer science, acts as a research consultant at amazon ads, where he applies his skills to issues that involve stochastic inputs, online idea acceptance, uncertainty and learning. Matthew lease, professor in the school of data and a research associate at aws, also remains head of the ai and human-centered computing lab, where his research integrates ai with human-computer interaction techniques. "This science hub will strengthen the interaction between ut austin and amazon, selecting our collective strengths and providing time for our decision makers and learners to collaborate on with amazon leaders for speedy progress in computer vision, ml, ai and robotics," said roger bonnecaze, dean of the cockrell school of engineering.
"Ut austin has created an impressive program in the robotics region with absolute faculty and students," said ken washington, vice president of amazon consumer robotics. "The new center will allow people to benefit even more closely from the spoils of robotics and adjoin disciplines, eager to help i am solidly optimistic about our growing partnership."
The creation of the ut austin science center builds on amazon's long-standing research efforts in austin. The amazon researchers in austin are tackling challenges like supply chain optimization, bus and streetcar management, and the most exciting data science research.
Moreover, several researchers at ut-austin are amazon research award winners, most notably ying ding, the bill and lewis suit professor of school of information and john tamir, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering.
